Harnessing nature to the needs of husbandry. Great engineering feat nearing completion
Harnessing nature to the needs of husbandry. Great engineering feat nearing completion at a cost of over three million.
The Lloyd Dam, named after Sir George Lloyd, which is approaching completion at Bhatgar, 30 miles from Poona, will form the greatest irrigation scheme in the world. The water stored by the dam will form a lake about 18 miles long and 46 miles in circumference, and it will afford protection for an area nearly twice the size of Surrey.
