"Fashion plates" of the Civil War.
This column of General Franco's troops, seen marching through Salamanca, insurgent headquarters, on their way to the front line, is probably the smartest in appearance of any engaged in the Civil War. After nearly a year of strife, steel helmets are sometimes a rarity, let alone lavishly-embellished tunics and polished boots!

Swedes celebrate St Lucia's day.
Crown of lighting candles.
The Swedish festival of St Lucia's Day was observed in traditional fashion by the Swedish colony in Berlin. On this day, a feminine member of each Swedish family is chosen to be the 'Lucia'. Dressed in white and wearing a crown of lighting candles, she distributes coffee and Lucia Cakes. The festival is actually a prelude to Christmas and symbolised the returning sunlight.
Photo shows, the 'Lucia', wearing her Crown of lighting candles, distributing the Lucia Beveridge two Swedish girls holding candles in Berlin.
