Twenty-four finalists from area competitions throughout Great Britain came to Grosvenor house
Twenty-four finalists from area competitions throughout Great Britain came to Grosvenor house, London, this evening to compete for the honour of creating the Guild hair fashion the 1947. The contest, sponsored by the Inc Guild of hairdressers, Wig Makers and Perfumers, was organised with the object of finding the hairstyle eminently suitable to the British woman. Basic requirements demanded that the winning style should be adaptable to day or evening wear, should maintain its appearance, and should be simple for the average woman to manage. An attempt to break away from the influences of Paris and the cinema screen, and to find an essentially British style, of the prime object of the contest, which is to be held dearly. Tonight film actress Patricia Roc awarded the prizes after the stars had been judged by a panel of leading hairstylists.
