The painting in oils of Brigadier General Wade Hampton Hayes,.O.B.E., on its way to New York Armoury, largest and most luxurious military building in the world. The Brigadier General was a member of the British Home Guard and commanded the first American Squadron Home Guards, whose job it was to guard the London district headquarters and be responsible for the personal safety of the GOC. The painting was accepted by Col G.K. Brazill - Officer Commanding.

P. M. G. And Astronomer Royal Inaugurate Telephone Talking Clock.
The Postmaster - general, Major G. C. Tryon M. P. and the Astronomer Royal, Mr. H. Spencer Jenes, Inaugurated the Talking Clock Service at the Tandem Telephone Exchange building in Holborn.
The service is now available to London telephone subscribers who will be able to obtain the time by simply dialling TIM.

Representatives from Birmingham and Midland towns were among the delegates who left London by air for Czechoslovakia this morning. The delegation is flying to Prague to attend the official laying by President Benes of Foundation Stone of Lidice, which takes place on June 15th.
