The parish church of St Leonard s, Sussex, destroyed by a flying bomb, in July 1944, will rise again from stone hewn from the ground by 12 German prisoners of war who today began work in a quarry on the nearby Crowhurst Park Estate. Their work was preceded by a service conducted by Canon CC Griffith, rector of the blitzed church, who read a message from the Bishop of Chichester.
