Caledonia takes off from Southampton on first experimental transatlantic flight.
The Imperial Airways flying boat Caledonia took off from Southampton at the beginning of her first experimental transatlantic flight to Newfoundland and New York.
The Caledonia is bound, first, for the Shannon base in the Irish Free State and the ocean crossing will begin from there.
Photo shows, casting off the Caledonia at Southampton. Captain as Wilcockson, the commander, can be seen in the cabin.
