Barge pole for Maudling.
London; Members of the League of Empire Loyalists arriving at Lancaster House, London, this evening, with a 12 foot long barge pole, to which is attached a placard with the message, " this barge pole is presented to Mr Reginald Maudling by members of the League of Empire Loyalists, who themselves would not touch Jomo Kenyatta with it ". The Empire Loyalists attempted to take the pole into the building, but were turned away by the police.
Lancaster House is the venue of the Kenya Constitutional Conference, opened in London last week by Mr Maudling, Britains Secretary of State for the Colonies, and at which Mr Kenyatta, leading Kenyan political figure is a delegate.
