A hand to hand fight between unemployed and police raged around Wakefield House, on the L C C estate at Peckham, London,s E, when bailiffs carried out the eviction of the family of Mr Jack Williamson, a milkman, because he had sublet part of his flat to an Aunt, Mrs Anne Crawford, breaking an L C C regulation. the family, consisting of his wife and seven children were turned out in the rain and their furniture was also put out in the rain outside.
