What is stated to be the largest rent strike ever known in the East End of London, has been declared by over 240 families at Quinn Square Buildings, Russia Lane, Bethnal Green. Wives have been picketing the estate office, while men and women watched the gates of the buildings to make sure no one played the race.
The tenants decided that unless rent for decontrolled tenants was altered to range from 5s to 15s and controlled tenants paid only their correct controlled rent, all money due to the landlord should be withheld.
