Jewels which in the past were worn by royalty and were the gifts of Kings are to be sold at Christies in London next week. They are at present owned by a member of a foreign imperial family. The jewels include a gold snuff box, which the Prince Regent, afterwards King George IV, presented to the Princess de Lieven, wife of the Russian Ambassador to the court of St James in 1820 and an Empire gold bracelet, which belonged originally to the Duchess Auguste Amelie of Leuchtenberg, wife of Prince Eugene de Beauharnais who inherited it from his mother, the Empress Josephine. A diamond riviere given by the Empress Josephine to her daughter Hortense, who married Louis Bonoparte, King of the Netherlands will be sold at the same time.
