When Miss Hilda Edith Pegler, of old Shoreham Road, Hove, Sussex, found a man leaving her house on the night of February 22, she chased him into the garden, hit him with a bucket as his climbing a fence, and captured him. Today at the East Sussex Quarter Sessions at Lewes the man, George Lycett, 45, with 14 previous convictions, who asked the 17 other offences to be taken into consideration, was sentenced to 5 years penal servitude after pleading guilty to breaking and entering the house and stealing articles worth ?70.05 shillings. Mr Justice Casals, chairman of the sessions, condiments miss Peggy on her brave action whereby she succeeded in bringing a hardened criminal justice. Lycett revert to miss Peggy after his capture as " a very brave woman".
