Twist-Errific. On Sunday afternoon 14 twist enthusiasts congrgated in a Brighton
" Twist-Errific".
On Sunday afternoon 14 twist enthusiasts congrgated in a Brighton coffee bar to start twisting - and keep twisting for over 32.5 hours. They were out to beat the world marathon twist record, set up at Harlow nine days ago. But one by one they droppped out, beaten by sore feet, cramps, and other twist-ailments. Late last night these two young ladies were still going strong - under the watchful eyes of these St. Johns Ambulance members, the end was near and the record in sight. Twenty-year-old Rita Franks (left) of Brunswick-Road, Hove. had just a little more energy than her companion Toni Sinclair, 18-year-old professional dancer, who finally gave up the twist after 30 hours with a swollen ankle. That gave Rita, a secretary a clear field - and the world twist marathon record. Sussex, England. 20 February 1962
