For nearly 200 years a member of the Brett family has been village cobbler at Wonersh, near Guildford in Surrey.
Nowadays, Mr William Brett carries on the tradition, and he has had a special distinction. He has made a special pair of shoes for the Pope. The shoes were inlaid with gold braid and the hill covered in gold. The gold cross was also inlaid in the toecap.
